Open Class Entry Information

Entry day, Thursday, August 8, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Closed for judging after 5:00 p.m. A "Best of Show" will be selected from each Class.
Friday, August 9: Exhibit Hall open 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 10: Open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunday. August 11: Open at 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No exhibits will be removed before 4: p.m. Exhibit removal from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Not responsible for exhibits or premiums after 6:00 p.m.

Open Class Rules

1. All entires are open to Garden County residents only.
2. All entries must be made or grown by the exhibitor and shall not have been exhibited at any prior Fair.
3. All Exhibits, excluding Florticulture and agriculture, must be done during the current year. All canned or preserved foods will be etched for identification.
4. ONLY ONE ARTICLE MAY BE ENTERED UNDER ANY CLASS NUMBER BY ANY EXHIBITOR
5. All entries must be clean and be in place in the appropriate department and ready for judging no later than 4:00 p.m., August 8, 2002
Only judges, assigned clerks and co-directors will be allowed in Judging Area during judging. Judges reserve the right to re-classify or disqualify entries, if not in compliance with the rules.
6. "Kids Korner" - Boys and girls, ages pre-school through 16 may enter in any of the Open Class Divisions.
7. Judges will choose a Best of Show from each Class.
8. The Garden County Fair Management will not be responible for any article of any kind that may be lost, destroyed or damaged in any way, but the utmost care will be used in the handling and protection of each exhibit.
9. FOR DISPLAY ONLY. Individuals may display items not to be judged.
10. Senior Citizen Section is for individuals who are 60 or older or a nursing home resident.
     Section 1: Nursing home patient, handicapped.
     Section 2: Nursing home patient, non-handicapped.
     Section 3: Does not reside in nursing home, a shut-in, confined or handicapped.
     Section 4: None of the above, but over 65.

All exhibits will be displayed and judged according to Open Class Rules.
Those entering in the Senior Citizen Division cannot enter in the Adult Division.

CLASS D - NEEDLEWORK
Entries must be cleaned, pressed, blocked, etc. Wall hangings must have hanger on back. Pictures must be securely framed. Bring clothes hangers for clothing. The article judged "Best of Show" in Needlework Division is eligible for State Fair entry. Only one article may be entered in the State Fair contest from each county. Exhibitor must live in county. Exhibit "Best in Garden County" will be entered and judged under the rules printed in the current year Nebraska State Fair premium book.

CLASS F - FLORTICULTURE
Exhibitor must know the variety of flowers they are entering. Exhibitor pleas note dimension of flowers and number of stems required per entry as stated on premium list. Flowers and stems are counted and measured by judges. Cut flowers should all be the same color with some attached foilage. Exhibitors are allowed one entry per class. Stems on cut flowers should be as long as possible. The following flowers are poor exhibits, so will not be judged: Hollyhocks, morning glories, four o'clocks, & poppies.

CLASS P - PHOTOGRAPHY
All entries shall not have been exhibited at any prior fair. Exhibitor must have taken original exposure. All prints 5x7 or larger must be on photograhic mount board or heavy cardboard. Framed prints will not be accepted. Color Slide Requirements: Slides must be 2" x 2" and identifed with entrants name, title for a slide and category number. All slides must be spotted for desired projection with slide right side up, emusion away from viewer and spot in lower left corner. Flat Top Camera Club will pay $10.00 to entry judges Best of Show.
