14 Sept 1814 - Stokes Co.,NC - 130 acres, Deed Book #5, page 561:
"This indenture made this fourteenth day of September AD 1814 Between Joseph Standley of the County of Stokes
State of N. Carolina of the one part and Edward Arnett of the COUNTY OF GUILFORD, State aforesaid Witnesseth that he the said
Joseph Standley for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Edward
Arnett the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Joseph Arnett[Standley], hath given, Granted, sold and made over
and by these presents doth Give Grant, Sell & make over in fee simple unto him the said Edward Arnett his heirs &
assigns forever a Certain tract of land lying in Stokes County on the waters of Muddy Creek Bounded as follows Viz.
Beginning at a Spanish Oak by the side of a path, thence East one hundred and fifty two poles to a black oak Arnetts corner
thence North one hundred and ninety five poles to a black oak to a stake Walkers corner, thence West
Eighty three poles to an
hickory Walkers corner, thence South one hundred and twenty nine poles to a stake Walkers Corner, thence west
Eighty poles to a pile of stones, thence South Sixty poles to the beginning, Containing one Hundred and thirty acres
and five poles be the same more or less. To have to hold to him the said Edward Arnett to the only proper use and behoof
of the said Edward Arnett his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Joseph Standley his heirs &c doth Covenant & agree
with the said Edward Arnett, that he the said Edward Arnett his heirs & assigns shall and may forever hereafter hold occupy
posses and enjoy the above defined land and premises with all its Rights privileges appurtenances & improvements
free and clear from the ______? hinderance,molestation or incumbrances of any person whatsoever & further the said
Joseph Standley his heirs &c the above mentioned land and premises with every part and Article thereunto
belonging unto him the said Edward Arnett his heirs and assigns shall & will warrant and forever defend
against the lawful claim or demand of all persons whatever. In testimony Whereof the said Joseph Standley
hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written. Joseph Standley SEAL
Sealed & delivered before Milton Campbell & June Campbell
Stokes County June term 1815
The execution of this deed was duly proved in Open Court by Milton Campbell ordered to be registered. Robt. Williams, C.C."
